Japan has a long and beloved relationship with fruit-infused sake, which runs the gamut from the classic umeshu (ume, Japanese plum/apricot) to matcha, yogurt, and all manner of citrus. These tipples are often (but not always!) sweet, fantastic for cocktails, great with sparkling water or warm green tea, and hard to stay away from.
Like most sake, shelf life is long: at least 4-6 weeks, often longer. Always taste sake before throwing it out! Old sake will change, but notΒ necessarily in a bad way.Β
