Nigori is cloudy sake! That is: sake with fine particles of rice suspended in it, which lend a white color, creamy texture, and extra ricey flavor to the sake.

Some nigori are thin and hazy, with only the finest sprinkle of rice particles. Others are thick and textured, like a yogurt lassi. Some are sweet and fruity from the rice itself. Others still are bright with acidity, dry, and crisp, with a texture like pulped coconut water. It's impossible to know the style based on the name, so look deeper into the descriptions for a particular style.
