Benio Tomishima: Dusty Purple Sakazuki
- Low stock - 1 item left
This brooding sakazuki features a deep, multitonal interior with a shimmering aura dusty purple set off against contrasting highlights of chartreuse and lilac, leading up to a pale cream rim. The glassy, coffee-colored center of the sakazuki seems so richly colored that it couldn't possibly be shallow. Underneath, a soft array of sagey brown earth tones reminiscent of the finest tea.Â
The delicate, paper-thin ceramic feels like the barest boundary between lips and sake. The wide mouth of the cup makes sake taste sweeter, and the gentle angle of entry created by the shallow sakazuki lets the sake flow over the tongue slowly, enhancing body and mouthfeel.
These cups are handcrafted by Ehime-trained Tokyo artist Benio Tomishima.Â
Benio is compensated in proportion to American retail pricing, in order to afford her a fair percentage of Sunflower sales.Â
