This haunting sakazuki features a unique, glassy periwinkle interior with dancing particulate brushstrokes of chartreuse, gradating up to a pale cream rim. Beneath, a dusty rose background provides contrast to delicately textured white snow. You can feel the gentle ridges of the powdery snow glaze effect.
The delicate, paper-thin ceramic feels like the barest boundary between lips and sake. The wide mouth of the cup makes sake taste sweeter, and the gentle angle of entry created by the shallow sakazuki lets the sake flow over the tongue slowly, enhancing body and mouthfeel.
These cups are handcrafted by Ehime-trained Tokyo artist Benio Tomishima.Â
