A lovely, lifted aroma of mandarin oranges on this Summer Shichida, with honeysuckle and sweet floral notes jumping from the glass like rays of light. The palate is light and delicate-- a touch sweet to fill out flavors of loquat, juicy mandarins in syrup, chunks of pineapple and frozen muscat grapes. When the bottle is freshly opened it has a crisp tight finish that reminds me of the Fresca grapefruit soda I drank so much of as a kid. But as the bottle sits a little while open in the fridge, it softens a ton and starts to finish very smoothly, reminding me of a dense and sweet bite of late-Summer cantaloupe. I feel like we get the minty/floral, grapey/citrusy side of Dewasansan here, which together with Ohmine, affirms its fantastic utility for Summer Natsuzake.

At 14% ABV, nothing about Shichida tastes diluted... just light and fun. This is a single pasteurized, Summer release Junmai Ginjo, so it drinks without spritz or high acidity. That also means we can enjoy it a whole lot longer...deep into Winter, if you'd like!
