A bold, glowing blue horizontal drip marks the boundary between milky hazel upper and a magic-dust softly flecked bottom with shades of dusty pink, dried sage and desert sand. This pleasantly plump guinomi (a larger sake cup, or smaller teacup) is fun and bulbous, sitting softly on a low heel.
Benio's delicately crafted ceramic feels like the barest boundary between lips and sake. The wide, smooth mouth of the guinomi makes sake taste sweeter and lets your nose enter the glass, appreciating more of the aroma and allowing for a more generous pour between refills.
These cups are handcrafted by Ehime-trained Tokyo artist Benio Tomishima.
