Benio Tomishima: Mossy Creek Katakuchi

Benio Tomishima: Mossy Creek Katakuchi

$150.00
No sales tax — Oregon

A one-of-a-kind katakuchi in soft, mossy green tones with a glassy blue accent that suggests a flowing creek. This undulating katakuchi pours beautifully with one hand and its calming, cool green hue makes fresh, delicate sake taste even brighter. Handmade by Ehime-trained, Tokyo ceramic artist Benio Tomishima.

Katakuchi are spouted vessels used to pour sake (and matcha too!), a bit like an open-top carafe with a pour spout. Compared to the more familiar tokkuri, the wide open top of a katakuchi is great for chilled and room temperature sake, groups of people (so you can better observe the fill level), appreciating the sake's appearance, and offering a unique service aesthetic. In my house, we use katakuchi all the time-- really, anytime we're not heating the sake it's served in a katakuchi!

Benio is compensated in proportion to American retail pricing, in order to afford her a fair percentage of Sunflower sales.
