Kaze no Mori Omachi "Brown Label 807" Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu
The newest from Yucho's Kaze no Mori nama genshu (unpasteurized, undiluted) series, made with 80% polish Omachi rice from Okayama. Lightly effervescent (shuwa shuwa), fuller body, with notes of marmalade, five spice, a little sasparilla and pear, made light, lovely and zesty in the classic Kaze no Mori (wind of the woods) style.
The 807 series always makes me think of Milan Kundera's novel, The Unbearable Lightness of Being: a contrast in freedom, weightlessness and ephemerality, against the heavy backdrop of responsibilities and commitments in the Spring of 1968, USSR Czechoslovakia. Tension-- lightness, heaviness-- pushing and pulling-- in the glass.
