Soft, dry tanrei-style nigori from a beloved Yamagata producer working closely with local rice. Moromi (un-pressed sake mash) is blended carefully with clear junmai sake to reach the perfect consistency and mouthfeel. Tender notes of orchard fruit: apple, pear, plum, white peach, and a refreshingly tart contrasting note of fresh yogurt. On the light side texturally, not too thick, and at 500ml the perfect little sake snack with dinner. Shake before enjoying and serve gently chilled (~45-55F) or gently warmed (130F).

Founded in 1872, Kato Kahachiro Shuzo is in the Ohyama district of Tsuruoka, Yamagata, bordered by Mt. Chokai, the Asahi Mountains, and the coast of the Japan sea. The district has been famous for quality sake since the early Edo period, beginning in the 17th century, and was the first Japanese sake region with its own appellation.
