Bizen make (wood fired kiln, Okayama prefecture). Body is made of iron rich clay. The red markings (hidasuki) result when the pots are wrapped in rice straw and placed in a box (saggar). After the box and straw burn off, red markings are left. The potter's mark is inscribed on the bottom.
