A lovely, delicate cornucopia of just-ripe mango, green grape, fresh banana, gala apple, honeysuckle, pomelo, sudachi, and white nectarine. Aromatic but not too perfumey, the finish is soft, clean, fresh, and just a touch sweet in the most refreshing way: like biting into a crisp apple in Fall. The brewery says that this finish is supposed to mimic Tatenyan's nature: soft and lovely.

Tatenyan is a modeled after the CEO's cat, and is the official mascot of Tatenokawa brewery. Back in 2009 she snuck into the brewery as a stray and has lived there ever since, following the CEO around and sleeping wherever she pleases.

The brewery says, "This sake is not only for sake lovers, but also cat lovers who do not really know about Japanese sake." That's a funny take, but it might also be a clever one. I think this style is lovable by just about anybody.

Pairing:
The delicate citrus notes make this a great choice for yakitori, citrus-grilled (or baked) salmon, fresh fun salads, chicken salad with celery, grapes and yogurt dressing, & sashimi.

Tatenokawa was the first Sake Brewery in Yamagata who decided to brew exclusively Junmai Daiginjo class sake, and hope to continue to do so while providing their high quality merchandise at an affordable price. Nearly all of the rice they use to brew is locally grown Miyama Nishiki and Dewasansan.
