Fresh out of the bottle, with a light decant into a carafe, this bottle is just what you hope for from amber wine. I'm pedantic, calling it amber wine when it's so widely understood as orange wine... but the difference is that Georgian amber wine is its own beast. Powerful, grippy tannins, notes of walnut skin, dried persimmon, dried apricot and nutmeg-- I feel sometimes like I'm describing an aged sake. There is a venn diagram here I may explore one day. In the meantime, this is the amber wine of your dreams.
With no sulfur additions, please take care that this wine should be enjoyed on the first day. My experiences vary (as is often the case for 0/0 wines), but for the most part it shows best on day 1.
