Led by Jane Hashimawari of Ippai PDX: let's make umeshu together!!

Your ticket includes supplies to make a 32 oz jar of umeshu (BYO jar if you have one, preferably wide mouth): organic ume plums, rock sugar, and high-proof (24%) sake.

Due to the high cost of ume in the US (around $16/lb at Uwajimaya, $13/lb + shipping for organic from CA!) and the lack of cheap shochu in OR (plus I think it tastes better with sake), it's not a cheap class, so this isn't going to save you money compared to buying Choya! But it will be delicious and homemade, with organic fruit, and you'll learn all about the process. You'll be prepared to make your own umeshu in future years... perhaps even with your neighbor's (free!) underripe plums and apricots. 

During the class you'll also enjoy a tasting of different umeshu, yuzushu, etc., as well as some fun surprises :)

Note that this class is limited to 12 participants.
