A local treasure of a ceramicist, Iacob Kardos produces unique, original designs and has graciously produced a series of ochoko (sake cups) and tokkuri (carafes) for Sunflower. These are designed and fired here in Portland, Oregon and speak to Iacob's Romani-American heritage and unique creative voice. All pieces are one of a kind.
I love these slightly larger cups (guinomi) for a nice hefty pour I can relax with. My husband also likes them for espresso and whisky, and I use them for tea as well. If enjoying with heated drinks, I recommend preheating by filling first with boiling water. It well help retain heat for much longer.

Sunflower note: A guiding part of the Sunflower philosophy is creating a unique American culture around sake. If we want to make sake an important beverage in America, we need to come up with our own set of traditions and wares, while simultaneously respecting, learning, and appreciating Japanese sake culture. Beautiful American handicrafts, representing a diverse range of individuals and backgrounds, are an important part of this creative process.
